Pedro Acosta Shows Progress Amid Technical Troubles in MotoGP 2024

Spanish rider Pedro Acosta, 22, is seventh in the MotoGP world championship after scoring six podiums, a sprint‑race win in Thailand and a pole position, adding 24 points to his tally compared with last season. His campaign has been hampered by four non‑finishes caused by rider errors, mechanical failures and a carpal‑tunnel syndrome that required surgery before the German Grand Prix. Acosta rated his performance a 7 for the first half, but acknowledged the technical problems kept his overall score around a 5.

Ducati announced a long‑term contract for Acosta to join the factory team in 2027, positioning him as a potential successor to legends such as Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa and Marc Márquez. Jorge Lorenzo’s father praised Acosta’s attitude, saying he could be “the next crack” and likening him to past greats. The signing fuels optimism that Acosta will have a competitive bike when he moves from KTM to Ducati.

Acosta remains hopeful about the second half of the season, aiming to resolve the technical woes with KTM and to build on his recent comeback at the Sachsenring.
