Pedro Acosta cleared for German MotoGP after successful wrist surgery

Spanish MotoGP rookie Pedro Acosta underwent a minor operation on his right wrist to treat carpal tunnel syndrome after being forced to retire from the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen. KTM confirmed the surgery was successful and that Acosta aims to return for the next round in Germany at the Sachsenring circuit (10‑12 July), subject to a medical clearance later this week.

Acosta had been experiencing numbness in three fingers of his right hand, which impaired his ability to control the brake lever and led to his withdrawal. The condition had first appeared at the Motegi race last season and recurred at recent weekends, including the Czech Grand Prix. The rider currently sits seventh in the championship, 60 points behind leader Jorge Martín. A prompt return is seen as vital for KTM’s title hopes.

The team expects Acosta to undergo a final medical check on Thursday and, if cleared, to race in Germany, marking his first start since the Assen incident and providing a chance to regain lost points before the mid‑season summer break.
