Pedro Lucas launches Senate pre‑candidacy in Maranhão
Federal deputy Pedro Lucas Fernandes officially announced his pre‑candidacy for the Brazilian Senate during a political rally in São Luís, Maranhão. The event was attended by Governor Carlos Brandão, gubernatorial pre‑candidate Orleans Brandão, vice‑governor pre‑candidate Edivaldo Holanda Júnior, as well as dozens of mayors, councilors, deputies and other political leaders from across the state.
Lucas, the União Brasil leader in the Chamber of Deputies and former São Luís city councilor, emphasized his commitment to representing Maranhão at the national level, citing goals such as greater federal investment, stronger municipal advocacy and development projects. The gathering underscored the unity of the state’s governing coalition ahead of the party’s General Convention slated for 25 July in São Luís, where the official Senate ticket is expected to be finalized.
