Pedro Piqueras calls Supreme Court ruling on Pasapalabra's 'El Rosco' a tragedy
Spain’s Supreme Court ordered Antena 3 to stop broadcasting the “El Rosco” segment of the quiz show Pasapalabra, ruling that the round is owned by the Dutch company MC&F and not part of the ITV Studios‑produced programme. The decision forces Antena 3 to remove the segment that had become a staple lead‑in to its nightly news.
During a Thursday appearance on David Broncano’s talk show La Revuelta, news anchor Pedro Piqueras described the judgment as “una tragedia” (“a tragedy”) for Antena 3, adding that Pasapalabra had helped the channel dominate the ratings while he presented the news. He noted that the loss of the Rosco could weaken Antena 3’s audience share. The discussion also referenced Mediaset’s secret acquisition of the Rosco rights, which it plans to use in a new quiz format.
Piqueras concluded that without the Rosco the programme would not be the same, and he expects the broadcaster to find a replacement.
