Pedro Sánchez defends brother following judicial conviction
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has publicly defended the innocence of his brother, David Sánchez, and his wife, Begoña Gómez, during a television interview on the program ‘La Revuelta’.
Addressing the recent judicial sentence against David Sánchez, the Prime Minister claimed his brother was convicted primarily because of his familial connection to him, stating, “he is being convicted for being the brother of the President of the Government.” The conviction by the Provincial Court follows allegations regarding David Sánchez's employment at the Badajoz Provincial Council, where he served as a coordinator for conservatories and head of the Performing Arts Office.
Sánchez argued that the legal proceedings have crossed “red lines” affecting his loved ones. He defended his brother's professional qualifications, noting his academic background in economics, composition, and orchestral direction, including studies at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.
