Pegasus Airlines completes acquisition of Smartwings and Czech Airlines

Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines has finalized its acquisition of the Smartwings Group and Czech Airlines (ČSA). The deal, valued at approximately 154 million euros (3.8 billion CZK), follows the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.

The merger creates a significant aviation group with a combined fleet exceeding 175 aircraft and confirmed orders for an additional 140 planes. The Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) approved the transaction with the condition that Pegasus relinquish certain summer flight slots on the Prague-Antalya route to maintain competition.

Smartwings will continue to operate under its existing brand, maintaining its current daily operations, customer service, and commercial activities. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Pegasus Airlines' presence in Central and Eastern Europe by leveraging Smartwings' established network, which serves approximately 80 destinations across 20 countries.
