Overview

The Turkish airline group Pegasus Airlines has completed its acquisition of the Smartwings Group and Czech Airlines (ČSA).

The process began with conditional approval from the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS). To prevent a reduction in market competition, Pegasus was required to transfer a portion of its summer flight slots on the Prague–Antalya route to a third party.

The finalized deal is valued at approximately 154 million euros (3.8 billion CZK). The merger results in an aviation group with a combined fleet of over 175 aircraft and orders for 140 more. While the acquisition aims to strengthen Pegasus Airlines’ presence in Central and Eastern Europe, Smartwings will continue to operate under its existing brand, maintaining its current daily operations and commercial activities.
