Pehuensat III satellite project advances at Universidad Nacional del Comahue

The Pehuensat III satellite project, an engineering initiative from the Universidad Nacional del Comahue, is progressing toward its final integration. The project originated in 2022 when electronic engineering student Carolina Ochoa approached Dr. Marcelo Maraoz to discuss a thesis topic, which evolved into the design of a small satellite anteproject.

The Pehuensat III is a nanosatellite, specifically a cube with 10-centimeter sides weighing less than one kilogram. This initiative builds upon a legacy of space research at the university that began three decades ago, including the launch of Pehuensat I, the first Argentine university satellite, in 2007. The current project is supported by veteran researchers such as Dr. Jorge Lassig to guide the new generation of students through the practical challenges of space science and engineering.
