Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara 2026 Concludes with South Tapanuli Winning Cultural Stage Competition and Rp50 Billion Turn‑of
The 50th Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara (PRSU) ended on 2 August 2026 in Medan. South Tapanuli Regency secured first place in the Cultural Stage Performance category, with South Nias taking second and Samosir third. The festival also awarded winners in dance, student bands, short‑film, and creative gymnastics competitions.
Organisers reported a total visitor count of 161,309 and around 3,000 performers, 75 % of whom were local to North Sumatra. Economic activity generated by the month‑long event reached roughly Rp 50 billion. Vice Governor Surya highlighted the need to translate the fair’s momentum into sustained investment, improved competitiveness and better public services. PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU) director Ferry Indra emphasized the shift toward higher quality delivery and noted the event’s role in promoting regional talent, citing video‑competition winner Ridho’s gratitude for the platform.
The closing ceremony also featured representatives from local governments, BUMN/BUMD, consuls and other stakeholders, underscoring PRSU’s role as a cultural showcase and economic catalyst for North Sumatra.
