Peloponnese Region allocates €1.5 million for smart water networks

The Peloponnese Region has launched a new call for proposals totaling 1.5 million euros to upgrade water supply networks under the ‘Peloponnese 2021–2027’ program. Decided by Regional Governor Dimitris Ptochos, the initiative aims to improve drinking water management, reduce leaks, and enhance energy efficiency.

The funding is directed toward municipalities and Municipal Water and Sewerage Companies (DEYA) within the Peloponnese. The project involves the procurement and installation of modern telecontrol, remote control, and leak detection systems, as well as tools for monitoring water quality through smart metering and telemetry.

Key measurable objectives include upgrading 70 kilometers of piping and achieving an annual water saving of 360,000 cubic meters. The program also targets a reduction in energy consumption by over 20% and a decrease in water leaks by more than 30%.
