Pembrokeshire planners approve reuse shop at recycling centre
Planners have approved a scheme for Pembrokeshire County Council to establish a reuse shop at the Waterloo Industrial Estate waste recycling centre in Pembroke Dock. The project is part of a wider, grant-funded Reuse Project supported by the Welsh Government.
The facility is designed to support the circular economy by recovering and reselling items diverted from the waste stream, such as furniture, household goods, tools, and books. Officials clarified that the shop is a waste management operation rather than a conventional retail development; it will not procure or trade new goods, but will exclusively offer items recovered from waste deposited by visitors.
The shop will be integrated into existing recycling centre operations, allowing visitors to browse and acquire reusable items during their visits. This model is expected to result in minimal additional traffic as many users will already be visiting the site for waste disposal.
