Penang Halal Expo 2026 Boosts Malaysia's Halal Industry Hub

The Penang International Halal Expo 2026 (PIHEX 2026) opened on 25 July 2026 at Politeknik Seberang Perai, with Deputy Chief Minister I Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abdul Hamid delivering the inaugural address and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presiding. Officials highlighted the expo as a platform to promote Malaysia’s halal products, accelerate the growth of Bumiputera entrepreneurs, expand halal certification, and attract foreign investment, positioning Penang as a competitive local and international halal‑industry hub.

In parallel, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) signed a strategic collaboration with Penang Halal International (PHI) during the three‑day PIHEX event. The partnership, framed under the Program Madani Kita, provides a whole‑of‑government service corridor, offering free health checks, Wi‑Fi via the Nadi On Wheels vehicle, and on‑site assistance from multiple federal ministries and agencies. Organisers say the initiative aims to improve digital inclusion, streamline access to government services, and support the region’s economic development.
