Penjamo, Mexico hit by two fatal shootings in June 2026

On the night of 23 June 2026, a female hospital‑staff member was shot dead as she left the General Hospital in Penjamo, Guanajuato. Police found her body near her motorcycle and secured the area, while the State Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation.

The following morning, 24 June, an armed attack near the community of Buenavista de Cortés, on the road to Ramal, left a man dead. Officers recovered cartridge casings and a handwritten message on a poster that referenced a criminal group. The scene was likewise cordoned off, and forensic and homicide specialists from the state prosecutor’s office began evidence collection and autopsy procedures.
