Penjaringan residential fire destroys dozens of homes

A fire caused by a suspected electrical short circuit destroyed dozens of homes and stalls in a densely populated area of Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Thursday morning. The blaze broke out around 05:30 WIB on Jalan Kapuk Muara III, affecting approximately 15 units in RT 15 and 21 units across RT 16.

Emergency responders deployed 115 personnel and 23 fire engines to the scene. While the fire was localized by 07:25 WIB, the situation was not fully extinguished until 10:23 WIB. Authorities reported that 45 residents managed to escape safely. Total losses resulting from the fire are estimated at Rp1 billion.
