Penn State honors community impact and childhood cancer philanthropy
Penn State University is recognizing significant philanthropic and community contributions through two separate initiatives.
At Beaver Stadium, an anonymous donor to the Penn State Athletics Stadium Revitalization Project has provided a gift that allows for permanent signage at Gate B. This signage will honor Four Diamonds and Penn State THON, two organizations dedicated to fighting childhood cancer. The partnership between THON and Four Diamonds has existed for 50 years, with THON raising over $273 million since 1977 to support families at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Additionally, the 2026 Impact Awards will honor several former Penn State student-athletes for their ongoing community service. Recipients include Deryck Toles, founder of the Inspiring Minds youth program; Samantha Tortorello Ream Haas and Kelsey Ream Napolitan of the Team Ream Foundation; Dylan Lugris, founder of the Penn State Sled Hockey Classic; and Dr. Michael McShane, who leads the LION Mobile Clinic providing healthcare to underserved communities.
