Penn State to hold memorial events for 25th anniversary of 9/11

Penn State University is hosting a series of commemorative events to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The observances include a flag display on the Old Main lawn, where 2,977 American flags will be placed to represent each victim of the attacks. This display is scheduled to remain in place until Saturday morning.

A memorial service will be held on the Old Main lawn at 5 p.m. on Friday. Additionally, the McCourtney Institute for Democracy will host a screening of the documentary “9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero” at the Carnegie Cinema, followed by a panel discussion with university faculty.

To honor the 10 Penn State alumni who died at the World Trade Center, the Stuckeman School at the College of Arts and Architecture is hosting a memorial exhibition. The exhibition, which features student work exploring memorial concepts and designs, will be on display at the Stuckeman Family Building through September 25.
