US commemorations of September 11 anniversary

Overview

Various United States institutions are organizing events to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

In August, the National Naval Aviation Museum announced a ceremony titled ‘Service and Sacrifice: Remembering September 11, 2001’, featuring keynote speaker retired Vice Admiral John B. Totushek. In East Texas, Kilgore College planned a ‘Remembering 9/11: Reflection & Conversation’ program featuring survivor Michael Hingson, alongside a memorial exhibit at its Watson Library.

By September, Penn State University scheduled several observances, including a display of 2,977 flags on the Old Main lawn to represent the victims. The university also planned a memorial service, a documentary screening of ‘9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero’ with a faculty panel, and a memorial exhibition at the Stuckeman School to honor 10 Penn State alumni who died at the World Trade Center.
