Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission awards $197K in grants for fishing and boating education

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced $197,446 in R3 Education Grant funding for 16 fishing and boating education projects in 13 counties and one statewide initiative. All projects must be completed by June 30 2027 and the money will cover equipment, instructional materials, transportation and related costs.

Recipients include the Stroud Water Research Center’s canoeing and angling series for under‑represented young adults in Chester County, the Keystone Junior‑Senior High School Fishing Club in Clarion County, YMCA and Trout Unlimited programs, College Settlement of Philadelphia’s youth fishing initiative, and the statewide Wildlife Leadership Academy’s Stepping Stones, PA Bass and PA Brookies programs. The commission noted that last year’s grant program supported 16 projects that reached more than 11,000 participants through 184 sessions.
