Pennsylvania infrastructure projects trigger bridge and highway closures

Major roadwork and bridge construction projects are scheduled to impact traffic in Pennsylvania.

In Beaver County, PennDOT District 11 has announced a 33-day full closure of the Route 65 bridge over Connoquenessing Creek. Beginning September 21 and lasting until October 24, the closure will affect North Sewickley and Franklin townships. Swank Construction Company will perform the demolition and use accelerated bridge construction techniques to install a new precast modular concrete structure. Specific detours have been established for standard traffic and heavy trucks.

In Montgomery and Delaware counties, Interstate 476 will undergo significant improvements as part of a $63.7 million federally funded project. This includes two nights of ramp closures from Interstate 76 to northbound I-476 between September 18 and September 20. Additionally, weeknight lane closures will continue through October for bridge repairs, guiderail installation, and pavement improvements. H&K Group Inc. is serving as the general contractor for the project, which aims to resurface and repair nearly 17 miles of the interstate.
