Pennsylvania police corporal charged with manslaughter in fatal shooting

Upper Pottsgrove Police Corporal Sean Farrell, 58, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter following the fatal shooting of 22-year-old college student Glenwood Earl Pysher IV. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on August 23, 2026, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

According to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steel, the shooting took place after Farrell responded to a report of an individual attempting to enter a home on Snyder Road. Investigators state that Pysher, who had been drinking and reportedly approached the wrong residence, was unarmed.

Body camera footage reportedly shows Pysher raising his hands and walking toward the officer after being ordered to drop to the ground. Farrell fired two shots while Pysher was approximately 17 to 20 feet away. While the officer initially claimed Pysher charged at him while screaming, prosecutors state the video evidence does not support that description and suggests Farrell had less-lethal options available.
