Pennsylvania police fatally shoot college student at wrong house

Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV, a 22-year-old college baseball player, was fatally shot by police in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania, after mistakenly approaching the wrong residence.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a possible break-in at a home on Snyder Road. Police encountered Pysher at the rear of the property and an “encounter ensued” in which officers fired, fatally striking him.

Pysher’s family maintains he was unarmed and had only a cellphone and a backpack containing clothing and beer. His parents, Glen and Erin Pysher, stated that he had been celebrating a friend’s birthday and accidentally took a wrong turn in the woods, leading him to believe he was at a friend’s house. His father noted that Pysher was on a FaceTime call with friends just minutes before the shooting occurred.

The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is currently investigating the officer-involved shooting, and investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the property to determine the circumstances leading to the use of deadly force.
