Pennsylvania priest arrested for allegedly stealing $740,000
Gregory Allen Madeya, a 69-year-old priest from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, has been arrested following allegations that he misappropriated more than $740,000. The funds were reportedly taken from three Pennsylvania churches, parishioners, donors, and his own elderly mother.
Prosecutors allege that the stolen money, which included cash from church collection envelopes, was used to fund an extravagant and illicit lifestyle. This included purchasing heroin, paying for hotel encounters, and financing international travel, cruises, and overseas vacations. Investigators also noted the purchase of a $35,500 Ford Mustang, which was allegedly given to an associate.
During a search of a residence shared by Madeya, authorities reportedly found drug paraphernalia, including needles and glass pipes, along with suspected heroin residue. Madeya faces multiple charges, including theft and the financial exploitation of an elderly or dependent person. The investigation into the exact destination of all funds remains ongoing.
