Police in Penápolis, São Paulo, are investigating the homicide of a 17-year-old transgender adolescent, identified as Raissa de Almeida Gil (who used the social name Luan). The victim's body was discovered on Sunday morning in a sugarcane field that had been struck by fire.

According to investigators, the body showed signs of asphyxia, facial injuries, and intense burns. There are also indications that the victim may have been dragged to the field. Police recovered several items near the scene, including a flip-flop, a neck chain, and a mobile phone charger cable, which are undergoing forensic analysis.

The victim reportedly disappeared during the early hours of Sunday after spending Saturday night at a friend's house. While the investigation is ongoing, no suspects have been identified, and the motive for the crime remains unknown. The body has been sent to the Medical Legal Institute in Araçatuba for examination.
