Investigation into the death of Gisele Alves Santana

Overview

A forensic report from the São Paulo Institute of Criminalistics has ruled out suicide in the death of Military Police soldier Gisele Alves Santana. The report states that bloodstain patterns and physical evidence are incompatible with self-inflicted harm and indicate the involvement of a second person.

Santana was found with a gunshot wound to the head in February in an apartment she shared with her partner, Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto. While the Lieutenant Colonel initially reported the incident as a suicide, the investigation was reclassified as a suspicious death. The Lieutenant Colonel is currently a defendant in a femicide case and remains in custody at the Romão Gomes Military Prison.
