Pentagon files reveal 1963 UFO reports in Bahia, Brazil

Newly declassified Pentagon documents have brought attention to a 1963 incident in Conde, Bahia, Brazil, involving reports of a metallic sphere falling from the sky. According to intelligence records based on a Brazilian radio broadcast from November 8, 1963, a large metal object allegedly struck the center of the town, creating a crater approximately four meters deep.

Reports at the time claimed the sphere featured glass-covered openings similar to windows and contained a human body dressed in heavy clothing with indecipherable inscriptions. The unusual claims prompted interest from the U.S. Department of State, the Department of Defense, and NASA.

However, diplomatic records indicate that the incident was investigated and ultimately dismissed. A telegram from the U.S. Embassy in Rio de Janeiro clarified that no aircraft had been recovered, and a final diplomatic communication on November 20, 1963, concluded that the entire episode appeared to have been fabricated. Despite the media attention in Brazil at the time, investigators were unable to find any witnesses to the purported crash.
