People’s House museum updates Oval Office replica with Trump-style decor

The People’s House museum has redesigned its full-scale Oval Office replica to reflect the decor selected by President Donald Trump for his second term. Located near the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, the exhibit features an opulent aesthetic characterized by gold-toned swirling appliqués, polished vases, and 24 portraits in elaborate gilded frames.

Because public White House tours do not include the West Wing, the White House Historical Association created the replica to allow visitors to experience the space. The redesign involved various artisans, including North Carolina craftsmen for wall appliqués, a specialist in Indianapolis using 3D scanning, and California carvers for the gilded frames. Teams from Canada and Virginia also contributed to recreating tabletop pieces and vases.

The exhibit, which opened in September 2024, matches the dimensions of the actual Oval Office and includes reproductions of the two mirrors and the Declaration of Independence found in the president’s office.
