People’s House museum Oval Office replica redesign

Overview

The White House Historical Association has updated its full-scale Oval Office replica at The People’s House museum in Washington, D.C., to reflect the aesthetic of President Donald Trump’s second term.

The redesigned exhibit features an opulent style characterized by gold-toned swirling appliqués, gold leaf, gold trim, and brass accents. The display includes approximately two dozen portraits of historical figures, such as George Washington and Ronald Reagan, set in elaborate gilded frames, as well as a bust of Theodore Roosevelt and a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence.

To recreate the space, various artisans contributed to the project, including craftsmen from North Carolina, Indiana, California, Canada, and Virginia. The replica, which matches the dimensions of the actual Oval Office, serves as a way for visitors to experience the West Wing, which is not included in standard public White House tours.
