People's Party advocates provincial funding reform and modernisation at Castellón forum
At the II Forum of Deputations, Cabildos and Consells of the People's Party in Castellón, provincial PP leaders presented two complementary agendas.
Marta Barrachina, president of the Provincial Deputation of Castellón, called for a “just financing” model for the province and Spain, arguing that current allocations from the central and regional governments are insufficient. She highlighted local initiatives – such as video surveillance, rural guard services and transport on demand – as examples of effective municipal management and urged a simplification of administrative procedures to support demographic growth.
Miguel Ángel Valverde, PP provincial president of Ciudad Real, focused on modernising provincial administrations. He urged clearer competency definitions, stronger institutional coordination and digital tools to improve efficiency and avoid overlaps. Valverde also stressed the need for adequate financial resources to back any expansion of provincial powers and to guarantee equal public services for rural and urban areas.
