Ópera de Tijuana brings street opera festival to Paseo del Parque
The Ópera de Tijuana Foundation has announced an extension of its ‘Festival Ópera en la Calle 2026’ to be held at Plaza Paseo del Parque in Tijuana. Scheduled for Sunday, October 25, the free event is part of the ‘Ópera en las Plazas Públicas’ program, which aims to bring music and performing arts to new urban spaces and diverse audiences.
The musical program will feature the Tijuana Opera Choir directed by Salvador Castro, the Orquesta de la Zona Este led by Juan de Dios Ruvalcaba, the tenor trio I TRE, actor Carlos Puentes, and various opera soloists. The event will also include a ‘Verbena Siciliana’.
Márcia Teresa Riqué, general director of the foundation, noted that the project has worked for 26 years to create audiences for opera and concert music. Entrepreneur Carolina Aubanel stated that the collaboration aims to establish Paseo del Parque as a cultural hub for community coexistence and family entertainment.
