Perak authorities intercept illegal transport of 63 cattle

Authorities in Perak intercepted an attempt to illegally transport 63 live cattle from Kelantan to the Klang Valley via the Cameron Highlands route. The truck was stopped between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading south from Simpang Pulai.

The integrated operation was conducted by the Perak Veterinary Services Department (JPV) in collaboration with the North Brigade Intelligence Branch and the Ulu Kinta General Operations Force, following nearly a week of intelligence gathering. Officials noted that the rear of the vehicle was covered with a canvas, believed to be an attempt to evade detection by authorities.

The driver failed to produce any authorization documents for the transfer. The case is being investigated under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953. If convicted, the offender could face a fine of up to RM15,000.
