Perikatan Nasional disputes Bersatu reports to Registrar of Societies
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Secretary-General Takiyuddin Hassan has disputed reports made by Bersatu to the Registrar of Societies (RoS), labeling them inaccurate. The dispute centers on claims that Bersatu was excluded from a PN Supreme Council meeting held on July 16 to discuss seat allocations for the Negeri Sembilan state election.
Takiyuddin stated that Bersatu had already declared its intention to use its own logo for the election via its Supreme Council on July 15, prior to the PN meeting. He noted that during the July 16 meeting, PAS discussed potential political cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) to face the Pakatan Harapan-led administration in Negeri Sembilan.
In response to PN's actions, Marzuki Mohamad, a former aide to Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin, challenged Takiyuddin’s authority to issue a show-cause letter to Bersatu. Marzuki argued that PN lacks the power to adjudicate Bersatu’s legal status or quorum interpretations, asserting that such matters fall solely under the jurisdiction of the RoS. He maintained that Bersatu remains a legitimate member of the coalition and that its exclusion from the July 16 meeting was a breach of the coalition’s constitution.
