Peristeri nurse arrested for allegedly poisoning ex-husband with atropine
A 41-year-old nurse, formerly employed by the National Public Health Organization (EODY), has been arrested in Peristeri for allegedly systematically poisoning her ex-husband, a military doctor, with atropine.
The investigation began after the doctor, suspicious of recurring health issues and hallucinations, installed hidden cameras in his home. The footage captured the woman entering the residence and adding substances to food and drink, including honey, oats, pepper, and water.
Authorities report that the victim had previously required hospitalization and even intubation due to these incidents. The investigation has expanded to include the potential poisoning of the doctor's mother, who reportedly experienced similar symptoms after consuming water from the residence.
During the arrest of the woman and her parents, police recovered a 10ml vial of atropine and a syringe. Additional unknown substances were found in the woman's vehicle and in food containers at the doctor's home. The woman denies the charges, claiming the substance was eye drops, but she faces charges of attempted grievous bodily harm.
