Pernambuco celebrates audiovisual culture with film tours and Animage festival

Pernambuco's audiovisual sector is highlighted through two major cinematic events. The Commemorative Exhibition of Pernambucan Cinema will tour approximately 30 Brazilian cities between August 13 and 19. The exhibition features four landmark films restored in 4K: ‘Baile Perfumado’, ‘Baixio das Bestas’, ‘Cinema, Aspirinas e Urubus’, and ‘Boi Neon’. These works celebrate various milestones, ranging from 10 to 30 years since their release, showcasing the region's influence on Brazilian cinema.

Additionally, the 16th edition of Animage, the International Animation Festival of Pernambuco, will take place in Recife from November 20 to 29. The festival has selected 116 short films and ten feature films from a pool of 3,259 entries representing 108 countries. This year marks the debut of the Petrobras Session – Competitive Feature Film Showcase. Notable international selections include ‘Tangles’ and ‘Dandelion’s Odyssey’, alongside the Brazilian production ‘O Filho da Puta’. The festival offers prizes totaling R$ 32,000 across various categories.
