Pernambuco government invests in healthcare infrastructure in Recife

The Government of Pernambuco has announced significant investments in healthcare infrastructure in Recife. The state has completed the requalification of the Dental Specialties Center and installed a new X-ray machine at the Hospital Geral de Areias (HGA). This project involved R$ 17.5 million for structural works and R$ 800,000 for the new X-ray equipment. The upgrades are expected to increase dental patient capacity from 1,200 to 2,000 per month and increase monthly X-ray exams from 1,100 to 2,500.

Additionally, the state is investing R$ 48.8 million to expand the Pronto-Socorro Cardiológico Universitário de Pernambuco (PROCAPE). The expansion, which is currently 42.1% complete and scheduled for conclusion in 2027, will add 115 new beds, including 30 ICU beds. The project aims to increase monthly ICU stays from 1,200 to 2,700 and will include a Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Center and a diagnostic center. Once completed, PROCAPE is expected to become the second-largest university cardiac hospital in Brazil.
