Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra Allocates Over R$37 Million for New Police Vehicles and Gear

Governor Raquel Lyra of Pernambuco delivered a security package worth more than R$ 37 million to the state’s Military Police, Civil Police and Fire Brigade. The rollout included 90 new vehicles – 70 SUVs for the Military Police, seven fire‑engine‑type trucks, ten 18‑seat minibuses and three 4×4 pickups – representing an investment of R$ 24.8 million. The arms component added 5,576 Glock 9 mm pistols (R$ 8.9 million) and 100 CZ Bren 2 rifles (R$ 0.9 million). Protective equipment such as 600 helmets, 518 motorcycle boots and other PPE cost R$ 2.1 million.

Lyra said, “Today we deliver important equipment for our police, such as vehicles for the Fire Brigade, micro‑buses to transport troops, and new rifles the state has never bought before.” Senator Fernando Dueire highlighted the broader goal of improving public safety and reducing homicides, robberies and violence against women through better‑equipped and better‑trained forces.
