Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra Opens First Creche and 300th Community Kitchen in Sertão

Governor Raquel Lyra of Pernambuco inaugurated the state’s first early‑childhood education centre of the current administration in Tuparetama, investing R$ 5.7 million in a facility that can serve up to 324 children. The centre includes ten classrooms, a multi‑purpose room, nursing space, diaper changing area, cafeteria and a garden.

In the same visit she opened Sertânia’s 300th community kitchen, the second such kitchen in the municipality, which will provide around 200 meals a day to residents in need. The launch also included the delivery of 169 land‑title certificates to families in the Cohab 1 and Cohab 2 neighbourhoods as part of the state’s “Morar Bem” regularisation programme. Lyra said the projects will improve quality of life for mothers, children and vulnerable families in the interior of Pernambuco.
