Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra Opens New Early‑Childhood Center in Ibirajuba

On 12 May, Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra inaugurated the Centro de Educação Infantil Arcila Ricardo de Andrade in Ibirajuba, Agreste Central. The modern facility, funded with more than R$ 2.6 million, includes five classrooms, a nursery, a cafeteria, and other pedagogical spaces, and can accommodate up to 162 children. Two school buses were also delivered to the municipality. The project is part of the state’s Juntos pela Educação program, coordinated with the Secretaria de Projetos Estratégicos and the Companhia Estadual de Habitação e Obras.

Deputy Débora Almeida (PSD) attended the ceremony, praised the quality of the equipment, and used puppets to highlight the event. After touring the centre, she continued to Lajedo for a traditional Trezena de Santo Antônio and later to Cachoeirinha for the opening of the São João Raiz celebration. Other officials present included local mayors, state senators, and representatives of the Agência de Desenvolvimento Econômico de Pernambuco.
