Pernambuco ranks top 3 in Brazil for entrepreneurship amid election tensions
Pernambuco is experiencing significant political shifts and economic developments as regional elections approach. The state has been ranked the best in the Northeast and third in Brazil for entrepreneurship by the Instituto Liberal de São Paulo (ILISP), following measures to reduce bureaucracy and increase the number of low-risk activities exempt from permits.
On the political front, Governor Raquel Lyra (PSD) has appointed Helinho Aragão, mayor of Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, to her regional campaign coordination to lead efforts in the Agreste Setentrional region. Meanwhile, political tensions are rising as the campaign of João Campos (PSB) has filed a legal representation with the TRE-PE against a suspected "hate cabinet" allegedly funded by the state government to attack his candidacy.
Additionally, Governor Lyra has reported that her image and data are being used in fraudulent social media campaigns to solicit fraudulent Pix transfers, an action she claims is orchestrated by political opponents.
