Pertamax price hike cuts Pertashop revenues in Yogyakarta by up to 60%

The Indonesian government raised the price of Pertamax fuel from Rp 12,300 to Rp 16,250 per litre on 10 June 2026. The increase triggered a sharp drop in sales for Pertashop operators in Yogyakarta and Central Java (DIY), with some outlets reporting revenue losses of around 60 percent. Gunadi Broto Sudarmo, secretary‑general of the regional Pertashop traders association, said the surge in price came after a period when 30 percent of Pertashops had already ceased operations. The association warned that the new price level could jeopardise the viability of the remaining stations.

The price rise has sparked concerns among small‑scale fuel retailers about sustaining their businesses amid a sluggish economy and rising operational costs.
