Indonesia fuel updates: B50 biodiesel distribution and price shifts

Indonesia's fuel landscape is seeing significant shifts in both pricing and composition. The B50 biodiesel blend, implemented on July 1, 2026, is reported to be running smoothly across Java, Sumatra, and Kalimantan. BPH Migas officials state that monitoring shows no technical issues, with drivers of private vehicles, buses, and logistics trucks reporting that the biofuel does not damage engines. To support this energy security policy, BPH Migas is encouraging businesses to improve FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) storage facilities due to the substance's hygroscopic nature.

In terms of pricing, fuel costs at various stations have seen adjustments. Pertamina's non-subsidized Pertamax (RON 92) is priced at Rp15,950 per liter, while Pertamax Green 95 and Pertamax Turbo are at Rp16,600 and Rp18,300 respectively. Other providers like BP-AKR and Shell have also seen price fluctuations, with some diesel products experiencing increases. Meanwhile, subsidized fuels like Pertalite and Biosolar remain at their fixed rates.

On the environmental front, local authorities in Garut and Bantul are managing wildfire risks. In Garut, police have deployed educational banners to prevent forest and land fires during the dry season. In Bantul, a fire has burned approximately 10 hectares of land in Imogiri, potentially threatening 127 households, with manual firefighting efforts underway due to difficult terrain.
