Indonesia raises Pertamax fuel price to Rp 16,250 per litre

Effective 10 June 2026, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga increased the price of its non‑subsidised Pertamax (RON 92) from Rp 12,300 to Rp 16,250 per litre and Pertamax Green (RON 95) from Rp 12,900 to Rp 17,000. The company said the adjustment follows the regular evaluation formula set by the government, reflecting higher world‑oil prices and a weakening rupiah. Subsidised fuels – Pertalite at Rp 10,000 and Biosolar at Rp 6,800 – remain unchanged.

Economists and policy analysts warned that the roughly 32 % jump could strain the purchasing power of the middle class, pressure household budgets and lift the risk of inflation. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewan argued the impact on national inflation would be limited because Pertamax is not widely used in freight transport. Members of parliament have asked the Energy Ministry and Pertamina for a detailed calculation, while public‑policy experts at Celios warned of possible shifts to subsidised fuel, higher subsidy outlays and broader economic fallout.
