Pertamina teams up with ministries and Pupuk Indonesia to boost Indonesia's renewable energy and fuel diversification

Indonesia's state oil and gas company Pertamina is expanding collaboration on the country's energy transition. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology announced a joint effort with Pertamina to develop the workforce needed for renewable projects such as the 100‑GW solar power plant program and to reduce diesel fuel imports. Pertamina's transformation director highlighted initiatives in solar, geothermal and vocational training for the sector.

Separately, Pertamina and state fertilizer producer Pupuk Indonesia agreed to explore a value‑chain partnership that includes methanol production, green hydrogen and green ammonia, as well as broader utilization of natural gas for high‑value chemicals. Both firms said the cooperation aims to strengthen energy security, support industrial capacity and create jobs, linking energy and food security as pillars of national sovereignty.
