Legok Nangka waste‑to‑energy Pertamina West Java low‑carbon hydrogen

Governor Dedi Mulyadi of West Java and Deputy Energy Minister Yuliot Tanjung laid the foundation stone for the Legok Nangka waste‑to‑energy plant on 29 July 2026 in Bandung Regency. The facility is designed to process about 2,131 tonnes of waste per day and will serve six West Java regions – Bandung City, Bandung Regency, Cimahi, West Bandung Regency, Garut and Sumedang.

On the same day PT Pertamina (Persero) signed a joint agreement with the West Java provincial government to convert the waste into low‑carbon hydrogen, biomethane and bio‑fuel. The collaboration involves Pertamina’s New & Renewable Energy and Gas sub‑holdings and includes South‑Korean partner Hyundai. Investment guarantee support is provided by PT Penjaminan Inf. Both the plant and the partnership aim to generate clean energy, create jobs, cut emissions and serve as a national model for waste‑to‑energy development.
