Colombia women's football team defeats Venezuela 1-0
The Colombia women's national football team defeated Venezuela 1-0 in the first of two scheduled friendly matches. The game, held behind closed doors at the Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento (CNAR) on Isla de Margarita, was decided in the 66th minute by a goal from Ingrid Guerra.
Colombian head coach Ángelo Marsiglia managed a squad that lacked key players such as Linda Caicedo, Mayra Ramírez, and Leicy Santos. Despite Venezuela maintaining possession and security during parts of the match, Colombia secured the victory as part of their preparation for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again for a second friendly match on Tuesday, October 13. Venezuela, coached by Ricardo Belli, has already qualified for the World Cup play-offs.
