Peru and Ecuador deliver tractors to boost farm productivity

The Peruvian Ministry of Development of Agrarian and Irrigation (Midagri) handed over four modern tractors to potato producer groups in the Talavera district of Apurímac. The S/2.5 million investment, co‑financed with Agroideas, targets 104 families and is expected to raise potato output from roughly 3,000 tons to about 6,000 tons per campaign.

Ecuador’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MAGP) announced an investment of more than USD 496 thousand to reinforce agriculture in Chimborazo, Bolívar and Cotopaxi. The program delivered four tractors, 15 mobile agro‑units and legalised land titles for over 200 producers, aiming to improve cultivation of pasto, maize, potato and beans and to raise overall productivity.

Both initiatives seek to modernise farming practices, reduce production costs and strengthen market competitiveness for small‑holder farmers.
