Peru appoints new leadership for BCRP and Sunat
New leadership appointments have been formalized for two key Peruvian economic institutions. The Judiciary has sworn in Inés Marylin Choy Chong, Luis Miguel Palomino Bonilla, and Gustavo Adolfo Yamada Fukusaki as new directors of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) representing the Executive Branch for the 2026-2031 period.
While these three directors have been sworn in, the appointment of Julio Velarde as BCRP president remains pending Senate ratification. Additionally, three more board members designated by Congress are yet to be sworn in.
Separately, César Alfonso Luna Victoria has been sworn in as the new National Superintendent of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat). His administration will focus on increasing the formalization of micro and small enterprises (Mypes), completing the entity's digital transformation, and strengthening controls against tax evasion and smuggling.
