Peru secures Andean Parliament leadership and Senate commissions

Peruvian representatives have secured leadership roles within the Andean Parliament for the 2026–2027 legislative period. Jahn Clerk Nicanor Toledo Palomino will preside over the Commission on Education, Culture, Science, and Information Technologies; Paul Percy Fernández Bravo will lead the Commission on Human Rights, Social Development, and Citizen Participation; and Marcio Marino Bendezú Echevarría will head the Special Commission on the Future. These appointments aim to strengthen Peru's influence in regional integration and the harmonization of laws among member nations.

Domestically, the Peruvian Senate has also finalized the distribution of its new commission leadership for the 2026–2027 period. The Junta de Portavoces approved a restructured organization that groups several previously separate matters, such as combining Health with Education, Culture, and Social Development. The Fuerza Popular party holds the presidency of the most significant commissions, including Constitution, Regulations, and Foreign Relations, followed by Juntos por el Perú and Renovación Popular. While the Senate has reached an agreement, the Chamber of Deputies has yet to reach a consensus on its own commission distribution.
