Peru avocado exports shift focus from volume to profitability
The Peruvian avocado industry is transitioning from a phase of explosive volume growth to a focus on profitability. While export volumes have increased more than eightfold since 2017, the 2026 campaign is showing a significant shift where the value per kilogram is rising faster than the volume.
By the third week of June, Peru had exported 532,000 tons valued at US$1,037 million. This represents a 4.6% increase in volume and an 11.1% increase in value compared to the same period in 2025. Projections for the end of 2026 suggest a total of approximately 920,000 tons and US$1,825 million, both of which would be new historical highs.
