Peru expands sports initiatives through youth games and infrastructure development

Peru is seeing significant activity in its sports sector, ranging from large-scale student competitions to infrastructure development. The Ministry of Education has launched the regional stage of the 2026 School Sports and Para-sports Games (JEDPA), involving over 122,000 students nationwide. This follows an initial phase that mobilized approximately 4 million students. The competition includes diverse disciplines such as athletics, football, volleyball, and newly incorporated sports like beach volleyball and taekwondo.

In addition to school sports, the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) is organizing the 2026 National IPD Sports Games. This event will feature para-athletics competitions at the Videna IPD Stadium, aiming to foster inclusive and decentralized sports development.

To support the growing demand for sporting venues, particularly ahead of the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, companies like Grupo Argenia are seeking to participate in new infrastructure projects. The firm intends to leverage its international experience in engineering and architecture to provide specialized services for large-scale athletic facilities.
