Peru 2026 School Sports and Para-sports Games
Overview
The regional stage of the 2026 School Sports and Para-sports Games (JEDPA) is underway in Peru. Organized by the Ministry of Education, the regional phase involves more than 122,000 students from public and private institutions nationwide and is scheduled to run through September 11. This phase follows an initial stage that mobilized approximately 4 million students.
In the Huánuco region, the event was inaugurated at the Paucarbamba Sports Complex, involving over 5,000 students from 11 provinces. Disciplines include athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, chess, and futsal, with new additions such as beach volleyball, taekwondo, and fronton. Winners from these regional competitions will advance to the national stage, set for October 26 to November 6.
Parallel to the JEDPA, the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) is organizing the 2026 National IPD Sports Games, which will include para-athletics competitions at the Videna IPD Stadium to promote inclusive and decentralized sports development. Additionally, as demand for sporting venues grows ahead of the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, private firms such as Grupo Argenia are seeking to participate in new infrastructure projects to provide engineering and architectural services for large-scale athletic facilities.
